12/26 Plaid Penguins

Is anyone else as tired as I am? Hubs wanted to know if I wanted to go to a movie today or if I wanted to laze around the house. It was his fault. He gave me the option. So we lazed around the house today.  After the hectic yesterday, it was nice to sit, play with Christmas gifts and just relax. No big meal to prepare, no more presents to wrap, no more decorating to do, but frankly, I confess: I haven’t had enough Christmas yet. Even though Christmas Day was tiring, I’m not ready to let go of the good cheer that I saw this year. A kind clerk gave me $50 off a purchase of mine. I received a thank you from the Fedex guy for the cookies that I set out for him.  A neighbor offered to help clear our driveway of snow after church. We offered to take in their mail while they were away. I’m not ready to let go, so on go the Christmas socks once again, this time with plaid penguins for a few more days of good cheer before we all forget until next December.

12/18 Hodge-Podge Socks

The camera that I take my lovely sock photos with is dying a slow death. It’s close to fifteen years old, so I suppose it was to be expected. Old cameras never die; they just don’t get the big picture. And the big picture is that I need a new camera. Now, Hubs is a camera buff. He knows what all the numbers and abbreviations mean, but shutter speed makes me shudder. Optical and digital zoom, aperture, macro, f-stop … why does a camera need GPS and Wifi? So it can text me its location? “ISO” confused. So many features to think about. Like cameras, Christmas can have features that are confusing and take thought. Happy Holiday or Merry Christmas? Present or gift card? Santa or Jesus or both? My socks are a hodge-podge of Christmas favorites, with ornaments, trees, candy canes, gingerbread men, and penguins, as if the sock maker couldn’t decide. Somehow, it all works together. Hubs will guide me through the decision making process to get the right camera for me. The one thing I’ve never been confused about is the baby in the manger. He’s picture perfect.

12/16 Ho Ho Penguins

Dec 16 – Ho ho ho. Not feeling very jolly today. My plans to go Christmas shopping have fallen through, thanks to the snow. I put on penguin socks, thinking that they were ideal for a jaunt in this weather. Unfortunately, it’s not to be. They’ll have to be happy with going out when it’s time to shovel our driveway. Sometimes, I think it would be nice to be a penguin. They don’t mind the cold and are well-insulated against it. And while I’ve got more insulation than I want, the cold weather just leaves me cold. Throughout my elementary and secondary school days, I walked to school.  Back then, miniskirts ruled, even in the dead of winter. Fortunately, along with the mini came the maxi. One of the best presents I ever received was a navy blue maxi coat. It got tangled up in my legs when I walked, but gosh darn, it kept my thighs warm. So, I’ve had enough of the cold. The penguin socks are going to have to be happy keeping my feet warm indoors today. As for shopping, I’m good, as long as I have a credit card and the internet. Ho ho ho.
